Why does my diesel fire pump start during load shedding?

During load shedding there is no power to the jockey pump, preventing it from starting up and maintaining the system pressure. The diesel pump controller, however, contains a backup battery system which will keep the system active during power failures. Should the pressure in the line drop to the starting pressure of the diesel pump, the diesel pump will start and will need to be manually switched off.
